About Me
My story of where it all began
Halo, I’m Neji …
I’ve always been in love with traveling – especially exploring the raw beauty of nature. My journey into travel wasn’t straightforward, though. In fact, it started in one of the most unexpected ways: by studying Tourism Management in Jeju Island, South Korea.
Crazy, right? Most people only take that degree if they want to run a travel company or build a career in the industry. But me? I studied it because I thought working in tourism would give me holidays to explore the world. Little did Neji knows… that was just a DREAM.
From Hotels to Heartbreak
After graduation, I entered the hotel industry and it turned out to be one of the worst experiences of my life. As an introvert, dealing with endless customer complaints and surviving in a high-pressure workspace drained me. Though I handles every siturations very well and had great relationship with Guests, everytime I was on my duty, I’m crying dead inside.
Sure, I got staff discounts on hotels, but let’s be honest it wasn’t worth it. Working an entire year just to earn a two-week vacation felt like a nightmare, not the life of travel I had envisioned.
But Jeju had already planted the seed of something bigger. During my time there, through solo trips and university projects, I had already tasted the joy of traveling alone. My instinct told me it was time to quit, leave the job behind, and follow my path: Travel Blogging.
How I Found My Path
Funny thing is I used to hate writing back in university. But as I began documenting my travels, I realized I was actually good at it and more importantly, I enjoyed it.
So, in January 2025, I made the leap. I left Korea, packed my bag, and started backpacking around Southeast Asia. What I found was beyond anything I expected:
The Solo Travel Life: Pros & Cons
Traveling solo as an introvert is a mixed bag.
The Good:
-
You meet incredible people who inspire you
-
You experience new cultures and foods deeply
-
You learn to rely on yourself and grow stronger
The Challenges:
-
Parties and big social scenes often feel overwhelming
-
Problems on the road hit harder when you’re alone
-
Sometimes, loneliness sneaks in when you least expect it
But here’s the truth: solo travel makes you stronger. It pushes you to embrace the unknown, face your fears, and discover who you really are.
Where I Am Now?
It’s been 8 months in Asia, and honestly, I’ve been so distracted by the cultures, the food, and the friendships that I’ve barely had time to write. Right now, I know I need to slow down, settle for a while, and catch up on my blog stories so that I can share my journey with you.
I haven’t even made it to the West yet but that’s the beauty of travel. There’s always more to see, more to learn, and more adventures waiting.
And you know what? I’m glad I chose this path. I didn’t let anyone’s judgment stop me. I didn’t let other people’s voices overwhelm me. (Like I ever listened Lol 😛 ) I just followed my own dream and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
Thanks for reading my story, I hope you find something here that inspires your own travels.
